Accessible Insurance Websites
Here are a few of the areas we focus on when creating an accessible insurance website:
Who needs to have an accessible website?
Everyone. While there are currently no laws that websites must specifically adhere to, Title III of the American with Disabilities Act has been applied to websites on the defending side of many lawsuits in recent years. And the cases are only growing. Even web-based businesses with no physical location need to be accessible, as the Web is being interpreted more and more as a place of public accommodation.
What about automated software and website plugins?
They don’t work (well). Think about it: If all it took was a plugin or piece of software to make your site instantly and completely accessible, then users with existing accessibility software would already be able to access your website without any issues and no one would have to worry about it beyond that. It is just not that simple. Here are some items these automated programs cannot accurately correct: transcripts and closed captioning, site layout and content structure, descriptive text for images and other media, accessibility of attached and/or linked documents, automatic content, form issues, keyboard traps, and the list goes on.
How does Alicor Solutions help make my site accessible?
We have developed a selection of design templates that were built from the ground up to be as accessible as possible while still including all the features that we offer. Starting with one of these designs, we’ll then consider all the accessibility details while building your initial website. Consideration for accessibility continues indefinitely as changes and new content are added to your site over time. We also monitor any updates to standards and any laws that come into place in the future and will react as necessary to ensure your site is kept up to date with those standards.
Here are a few of the areas we focus on when creating an accessible insurance website:
We at Alicor Solutions accept no legal responsibility for the measure of accessibility of the websites we create for our clients. We provide no guarantee that your site will completely meet laws and standards involving ADA and accessibility. Being that no actual law currently exists, we literally cannot make such a promise. What we can do, however, is help you provide a website that is accessible to users with various disabilities. We will also continue to monitor standards such as WCAG and any laws that come into place in the future to ensure your site meets all required criteria.
Here is an excerpt straight from the Section508.gov website: "Until the DOJ adopts specific technical requirements for web accessibility in a final rule, if you’re subject to the ADA, you have more flexibility in determining how to make your website compliant with the ADA’s general requirements of nondiscrimination and effective communication."
The goal is simple: make your website accessible. And that is what we are here to help you with.
